Health Status & Disease Monitoring Protocol

Quarantine
All boars are placed in quarantine for 1 month prior to entry into the Al Unit, and must meet all Canadian Food Inspection Agency health criteria for the semen to meet export standards.
To meet export requirements, all boars must test negative for:
Leptospirosis
Transmissable Gastroenteritis Virus
Pseudorabies
Brucellosis
All boars are tested in quarantine for the HAL-1843 tm gene. Only normal boars are placed in the Al Unit.
Prior to placement in the Unit, blood samples from each boar must test negative for the PRRS virus.
