The IGP system is a Prince Edward Island, industry-owned, source of high health, improved swine genetics. It comprises the original 130 sow nucleus breeding unit built in 1976 in Grandview, Prince Edward Island. In 1998, a separate new sow nucleus unit was established in Ocean View, as well as a Boar Stud on a separate site. The IGP system presently includes seven multiplier breeder operations which operate under a standard health protocol.
IGP genetics are currently being sold across Canada, and clients in the United States, Mexico, China, and Italy are also enjoying the benefits of IGP breeding stock.
